Getting to Know Us

The club is run by a team of committee members – all volunteers – for the benefit of the  members. We’re always open to new ideas and we like to think we’re a friendly bunch so please come and say hello at events and let us know if we could be doing something better or offering something different. Alternatively, you can contact us here.

Treasurer & Catering Chair
Most of you probably recognise me from my kitchen duties, but in a more official capacity I am the club treasurer –  I have been involved with Riders 2000 in one way or another since 2001, I have no interest in horses but with a mad keen family it was my only way to spend time with them on weekends !!  I consider myself very lucky to be part of such a super little club and have made many friends over the years not only from Riders 2000 but also throughout Area 15 and nationally, maybe one day I might actually consider going for a ride!!! I’ve been a member of Riders since the start which accounts for nearly half my life. For many years, I was happy to lurk in the background but about ten years ago I was asked to help out with the newsletter. The rest, as they say, is history!  If I’m not to be found running around at events doing a bit of everything and delivering the jumps to wherever they’re needed, you may see me riding one of two big grey boys, Archie and Monty. Archie has the pink nose and usually misbehaves if you want to tell them apart! I’m also responsible for organising the senior spring camp, the club’s relationship with Area 15 and the website.

 Vice Chair Secretary
I’ve been a member of the club since the beginning and a committee member for longer than I can remember. Riders has been a big part of my horsey life and although I have competed for the club for many years it is the fun and laughter that I love the most. I’ve just bought a new horse so I am very excited about the coming year! I’ve been on the committee for many years in several roles and am currently the secretary. I enjoy riding Des my coloured cob on whom I compete in dressage pairs with my friend Annmary Sutton which is great fun. I think I’m the oldest member of the club and am a grandmother of six boys. You will often see me at events with my long suffering husband Keith who drives our horsebox.

Membership Secretary Training Co-ordinator
I organise the memberships for the club, I have been a member since about 2005 as my daughter Anna competes and has represented Riders 2000 since she was young. She’s now winning at championship level as a team member and an individual. As we would be at all the club training and clinics and we were often helping, the committee seemed like a natural step. Anna is now in university so I keep her horse, Poppy, going when she is away so she is able to compete when she returns home. I’m married to Paul and we have three grown up children. We live in Dinas Powys and run a small, friendly DIY livery yard. I’ve been on the committee for the past four years. My daughter Emma has been a very successful member of the club and we’ve had a wonderful time. My passion is riding pairs dressage with my fellow committee member Ann Bryan. We have the most handsome pair of matching skewbald cobs!

Volunteers Co-ordinator Dressage
I’m in my late 40’s and married to my poor horse widowed husband Steve. I’m a mum of two children, one at university and one studying an for apprenticeship. I love being with my two cheeky Welsh Cobs, Chester and William, and doing dressage with them. I joined the committee member at the AGM last year. My role in the club is volunteers co-ordinator so I round up hands on deck for our competitions and events where I can usually be found in the catering wagon. I am new to Riders 2000 Committee although I have been a member and supporter of Riders for many years. I am married with two grown up sons and am partially retired. I have owned horses since I was 13. I love cross country riding but stick to dressage nowadays. I loan Red a coloured cob and own Chieftain who is home bred and will be 24 in May.
